We enjoyed some summer weather last weekend with Chicago Style hot dogs (well, sausages, actually) made on the grill. Oh yeah!
I must credit my friend, coworker and high school classmate, Aaron, for introducing me to Matt’s Gourmet Hot Dogs, who, in turn, introduced me to the Chicago Style. It changed my life! Well, not really, but these are pretty amazing!
I’m not often able to get to one of the several Matt’s locations, so I’ve learned how to make these babies at home. Here’s what’s in them: a hot dog or sausage of your choosing, diced onions, chopped tomatoes, mayo, mustard, sweet relish, dill pickle wedges, pickled hot peppers (“sport”) and a sprinkle of poppy seeds and celery salt.
