Offered for sale as a purebred yearling Katahdin ewe $300
Really substantial, heavy-bodied, dark chocolate ewe. Good EBVs for growth, milk and survival; modest on prolificacy, she’ll tend towards singles/twins and away from triplets. Sired by a framey, dark chocolate ram from Birch Cove Farm (David Coplen, Missouri). Dam traces to Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare DVM in Iowa) and Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko in Moses Lake, now retired). There is a Texel several generations back in that sire’s pedigree, and the shedding impact is still lingering a bit. She is still in the process of shedding and may be a B coat. She did not breed to lamb as a yearling.
Photo from May 2022. EBVs from 2022 lamb crop BWT data and includes the new Genomics run calculations (this ewe is not genotyped herself). NSIP is currently not reporting the USA HAIR index, until it can be updated with the new Genomics calculations. This ewe is ready to go to a new home today and be bred this fall.
