Offered for sale as a purebred, registered Katahdin ewe $400 with ram lamb at sideĀ
This ewe has a classic body type, big capacity for grass feeding. She is white with brown spots and flecking. Pedigree is some old PNW genetics that aren’t around much anymore: Just Plain Sheep, and Bert Martineau’s line, plus KRK. One side of her udder is not very functional, presumably due to subclinical mastitis lastĀ year. Her lambs were hungry and I was supplementing them, but one of them died fast from clostridium at a couple weeks old. The remaining lamb is doing fine now raised as a single by her. I am selling her at cull price, but she could be bred again, as long as the buyer is prepped to bottle supplement her lambs when she has twins. She’s a sweet and mellow girl and a very good mother. She has very balanced EBVs, good growth, reasonable prolificacy and good milk.Ā Ā Lambing record starting as a yearling: 1/1, 2/2, 3/3, 2/2, 2/2, 2/1
Photo taken May 2021. EBVs from 2021 lamb crop birth data. Price, through June, is for ewe with her solid chocolate ram lamb at side (sire is BC H 974), and includes the ewe’s registration cert. The ram lamb is sold as commercial (or for $100 more for registration paperwork, now or later).
