Offered for sale as a registered Katahdin ewe $475, exposed
Nice framey, white ewe with a great hair coat in summer. Balanced EBVs across the board, modest on prolificacy so she may have singles some of the time and will be less likely to triplet. Really strong maternal behavior. This year I had a larger than normal number of stillborns (I believe due to grass tetany) and hers was one of them. I easily grafted a triplet lamb onto her from another set. She took it so readily she almost didn’t need to be in a stanchion. Lambing record starting as a two-year-old: 2/2, 2/2, 2/2, 1/1
Her pedigree is a diverse set of out-of-town genes, tracing back to Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare DVM in Iowa), Misty Oaks Farm (Kathy Bielek in Ohio), White Post Farm (East Coast, now retired) and Aspen Mountain Farm (Aileen Scott Montana).
Photo taken December 2022. EBVs from 2022 lamb crop EPWWT data. This ewe is NSIP genotyped. She has been exposed to a ram since 9/20/22 and is expected to lamb in the March-April timeframe.
