Graceful ewe with subtle red roan coloration; a very slick shedder. She has really strong EBVs across the board and is right on my cut list for keeping, but her milk score is a little modest for me. Sire is out of Birch Cove Genetics (David Coplen, Missouri). Dam is my genetics tracing back to Misty River farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired) and Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, Iowa).

Flashy marked red pinto ewe. She has been a good mama, but is a “gummer” (she’s lost all her front teeth) so she can’t thrive on pasture alone anymore. She got very thin this winter and aborted twins early before I realized the reason. I have her in the barn and she’s fattened nicely on hay and grain; so she can do well in a pet home where she has access to feed year-round. She could probably even have more lambs just fine. Otherwise she’d make a sweet pasture ornament. Lambing record starting as a two year old: 2/2, 2/2, 1/1, 2/2, 2/2, 1/1, 2/0.

Offered for sale as a registered Katahdin ewe $275

Tall and framey white ewe. Modest on growth and survival, but good milk and prolificacy scores. This ewe came from Mary Bakko’s place (Misty River Farm, Moses Lake) when she retired; and she is a fairly tame and very assertive girl. She can be a fearless ringleader at spotting an open gate and dashing through it while the others all follow, but is also helpful as a herd boss when you want the mob to go somewhere.  She has been a productive ewe, but missed lambing in 2021 and again this year, so she may be declining in productivity, this she’s priced as a pet. Classic white ewe. Good growth and modest milk and survival, and low on prolificacy, this girl tends towards singles, which is the main reason I’m dropping her. This pedigree captures Birch Cove Farm (David Coplen, Missouri), Carl Ginapp’s genetics (Iowa, now retired), Lynn Fahrmeier (Missouri), Dosch Katahdins ( South Dakota, now retired) and Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko Moses Lake, now retired).  She is a good mama, but her twins had disparate growth this year and I early-weaned one, so she may have a damaged udder and will need to be monitored if raising twins again. Red baldface ewe with white socks and tail, good shedder. She is a good old mama. This year she was very sick post-birth, maybe toxemia, hypocalc or pneumonia. I nursed her through it and she is healthy now; but have priced her as a pet as she may need extra TLC as she gets older. She has very good EBVs across the board. Her dam is out of very old-stock PNW genetics including a Dorper way back there, sire is from Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, in Iowa). Red brockle faced ewe, clean shedder. This is one of “The Madams”- 10 years old and still raising lambs. She should be able to continue to do so, I’m only dropping her because her EBVs are getting on the low side. She does have very good Parasite Resistance EBVs, however. She has a very old-school pedigree: White Post Farm (East Coast, now retired), Bert Martineau (one of the original Kat breeders in WA state, now retired), KRK (Karen Kenagy, OR), On the Lamb Farm (Sarah Jo Gahm, Arlington). Even PAS28L, so common in PNW pedigrees of yore. Lambing record starting as a two year old: 2/2, 2/2, 3/2, 3/2, 2/2, 3/0, 3/2, 2/1, 2/1. The last two years she was rearing lambs fine but lost one of twins each year to clostridium, which is not her fault.  Price just reflects her age, but I expect she could still raise twins for a few more years if given the chance and fed well, her udder is healthy.

Red baldface ewe with white hind socks. Strong growth and prolificacy  EBVs but more modest on survival and milk. Pedigree has Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, Iowa), Misty Oaks Farm (Kathy Bielek, OH) and some local genetics. This mama is super gentle and maternal. She’s very prolific, has had quadruplets twice. But her udder is aging and, at best, she can raise 1-2 lambs on it, and she’s starting to have pregnancy-related problems to where ideally she shouldn’t be bred again.  Lambing record starting as a 2-year old: 2/2, 1/1, 4/2, 2/1, 4/2.
