KMC 3043

Offered for sale as a registered five-year-old ewe, $375, exposed to a ram starting 11/3/18

A fawn ewe with a white blaze and tail tip, very standard body  type and frame size, great shedder with a very smooth summer hair coat. She is a very reliable mother with high prolificacy scores and positive growth EBVs. What I don’t prefer is her lower milk score, which doesn’t serve her lambs well on pasture, especially if there are triplets. (I intentionally orphan-reared one for her this year so the remaining two could grow faster, which worked well.)  She would thrive in an environment where lambs are creep-fed, if it’s easy to bottle-feed one, or there is a little richer feed for the ewes during lactation besides just grass.  Or for a small homestead where you just don’t care how fast the lambs grow, as triplets will be slower with her.

She has some old genetics and a clean pedigree that lacks some of the annoying frequently-used-sires that lurk in almost every pedigree here, so some people really desire these roots.

EBVs from 2018 lamb crop 120 day weight data. Photo taken September 2017.  Lambing record starting as a yearling: 2/2, 2/2, 3/2 (one stillborn), 2/2, 3/2

Offered for sale as a registered ram lamb $500

This is one of the top ram lambs born here this year. A very substantial, heavyweight ram.  His sire seems to be turning out to be a real nick- a leapfrog in genetics compared to his parents, his lamb crop has been phenomenal for growth.  Sire’s maternal line is from the now-retired Mist River genetics.  Dam is one of my top-performing ewes from Birch Cove farm in Missouri; she is a nice blend of NSIP genetics from the Midwest and South, and she comes with good parasite resistance scores. This ram will make a very productive herd sire that can throw a great combo of fast-growing butcher lambs and really valuable replacement ewes with good milk and prolificacy. It’s hard to “have it all” in one animal, this is one of the few!

Photo taken August 2018  EBVs from 2018 lamb crop WWT data. This lamb will be weaned 8/19 and ready to go to a new home and breed this fall.

Offered for sale as a registered yearling ewe $450, exposed to a ram starting 11/3/18

Pretty, moderate-framed red ewe.  Good growth, milk and survival, moderate on prolificacy. She’ll likely be a twinner for the rest of her life, but less likely to have a lot of triplets.

Photo taken January 2019.  EBVs from 2018 lamb crop 120 day weight data.  Lambing record starting as a yearling: 1/1. She is bred to KMC7018, due to lamb in April.

KMC 18160

Offered for sale as a registered ewelamb $275

Beautiful red ewelamb with good growth and milk scores. Her prolificacy and survival scores are a mixed bag- an average of fairly high animals in the pedigree, with a weak link on the paternal side (5088->WRN006->KRK0168 is a line with weak maternal scores). I suspect the good will outweigh the bad in this pedigree and she’ll be a reliable twinner. But only time will tell, as these are “tip of the spear” genetics- a lamb out of a yearling; and maternal trait trending is slower to emerge in the data.

Photo taken July 2018 with her dam.  EBVs from 2018 lamb crop WWT data. This lamb will be weaned mid-September, or I could wean her sooner for an interested buyer. She could also be sold with her dam.

KMC 18134

Offered for sale as a registered ewe $400, exposed to a ram

A tall, dark chocolate brockle-faced ewe out of retired Misty River farm stock, blended with John Bare’s Thistle Grove. This girl has good growth and milk, strong prolificacy and moderate survival. Her dam has had a few unlucky breaks and lost lambs, otherwise I think her score would be higher there.  Mary (MRL) bred for very large, framey ewes, and this girl looks like she is headed there as well.

Photo taken May 2019. EBVs from 2019 lamb PWWT data. This ewe is exposed to a ram (KMC 7045) and due to lamb late March.

Offered for sale as a registered ram lamb $475

Stocky, white freckled ram. Very strong and balanced EBVs across the board, this ram has it all, growth, milk, prolificacy and survival. Pedigree is a diverse blend of Birch Cove, Thistle Grove and Misty River farms genetics, bringing in outside blood to the PNW.

Offered for sale as a registered ram lamb $500

A big, beautiful chocolate baldface ram. This is an NSIP Certified Maternal ram. Really strong growth and milk scores, with good prolificacy; this ram is a good balance that will throw fast-growing, vigorous butcher lambs as well as daughters that can be replacement ewes.

Photo taken July 2018 with dam.  EBVs from 2018 lamb crop WWT data. This lamb will be weaned mid-August, or I could wean him sooner for an interested buyer.

KMC 18096

Offered for sale as a registered ram lamb $500

This is a really nice set of triplet ram lambs out of my only badger-colored ewe.  You can see how instinctively tight-knit they are, even at this age. This is how you get NLW in the double-digits, is dams that look after their triplets closely, and lambs that stick to their dams. 18096 is the middle ram in the photo. The sibling at left actually had a little better WWT, but this ram looks more substantial and masculine to me now at 90 days, and they are very close in scores. This pedigree brings in almost all non-PNW genetics, so this ram offers diverse genetics for our region.  He is an NSIP Maternal Certified ram, and is in the top 10% of the nation for growth scores, while still having very strong EBVs across the board, which is hard to get. Let this guy bring improved genetics for growth, prolifacy, survival and milk into your operation!  This is one of my top picks from this year’s lamb crop, this ram promises to be a really strong sire.

Photo taken July 2018 with dam and triplet siblings.  EBVs from 2018 lamb crop 120 day weight data. This lamb is weaned and ready to go to a breeding home today!

Offered for sale as a registered ewelamb $300

Big-bodied, red roan ewe with really strong growth (top 10% in the country) and good milk scores. Moderate prolificacy, though this girl may sometimes have triplets. She’s got Aspen Mountain (Montana) and Birch Cove (Missouri) genetics behind her, as well as Misty River, now retired from sheep.

Offered for sale as a registered ram lamb $500

This is a very standard white ram that promises to really improve your growth and milk genetics! Those WWT, PWWT and MWWT scores are in the top 1% of the nation. His prolificacy is more moderate, so his daughters are still likely to twin, but steer away from multiple births.
