Classic white ram. He was a special procurement from the USDA Sheep Research Station in Dubois, ID. Their flock is run out on thousands of acres of range, with heavy wolf predation pressure and a very extensive environment. This was one of the top-growing rams of the crop that year, so these are hardiness genetics. His sire is from KRK/VJ stock; and his dam is from the famed “easy care” ewe genetics that came out of the US Meat Animal Research Center in Nebraska. She traces back to Hound River Farm (Roxanne Newton, GA) and Misty Oaks Farm (Kathy Bielek, OH). He is a proven sire, has been used both here and at Carnation Farms. His half sibling has also been used at both farms, bringing their EBVs/NSIP data current (as USDA hadn’t been submitting on the dam side for a couple of years). Solid EBVs across the board, for growth, prolificacy, parasite resistance and milk.
