KMC 23120

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ram lamb, $500

Beefy red ram with white freckles. One of the top rams born here in 2023. Really powerful EBVs across the board- top 1% in the nation for milk and WWT, top 15% for PWWT, top 10% for survival, and top 2% for Index. But a little more modest on NLB, for those who don’t love a lot of multi births.

A lot of Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri) genetics here plus a USDA ram from the Booneville, AR research station we got to borrow in the PNW for a year. This ram will take your replacement ewes to the next level and also bring you strong butcher lambs. A note of caution: his birthweight score is quite high, which is a common artifact with high growth metric rams. If you are a hands-off lambing operation or you feed  your ewes really well during pregnancy, you may want to consider a ram with a lower BWT value; or avoid breeding him to smaller framed ewelambs.

Photo taken August 2023. EBVs from 2023 EPWWT data. Ram is NSIP Maternal and Stud Certified. He is weaned and ready to start breeding right away!

KMC 23091

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ram lamb, $400

Heavy bodied chocolate ram with a brockle face. Strong growth, survival and milk scores, but more modest on prolificacy for those who don’t love triplets.  A blend of my genetics, Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri) and maternal grandsire is a USDA ram from Booneville, AR that we got to borrow in the PNW for a year. A note of caution: his birthweight score is on the high side, which is a common artifact with high growth metric rams. If you are a hands-off lambing operation or you feed  your ewes really well during pregnancy, you may want to consider a ram with a lower BWT value.

Photo taken August 2023. EBVs from 2023 EPWWT data. Ram is NSIP Stud and Maternal Certified. He is weaned and ready to start breeding right away!

KMC 23029

Offered for sale as a registerable Katahdin ewelamb $325

Cute slick white ewelamb with a few freckles. Solid EBVs across the board. Her dam was elderly and had poor milk this year, and this girl got a little behind on growth in her early weeks. I weaned her at 60 days and put her in the barn on good feed and she took off, pictured here sleek and fat and sporting a milk goiter. Her pedigree is a blend of my own genetics, plus Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Lynn Fahrmeier (Iowa) and Carl Ginapp (Iowa, now retired from sheep). This is a strong OG NSIP pedigree from mostly out of state. Lambing history starting as a yearling: 1/1.

EBVs from the 2023 lamb crop EPWWT data. Photo taken May 2023 as a lamb (will work to get an updated photo!) She is NSIP Maternal and Stud Certified. She has a ram lamb at side that will be weaned mid August.

KMC 23018

Offered for sale as a registerable Katahdin yearling ewe with  ewelamb at side $575

Feminine fawn ewelamb. Really strong EBVs across the board. Her pedigree is a blend of my own genetics, plus Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), a USDA ram from the Booneville research station we got to borrow in 2019,  plus a ram from On The Lamb Farm (Arlington) that traces back to a White Post ram.

EBVs from the 2024 lamb crop birth data. Photo taken May 2023. She is NSIP Maternal and Stud Certified. She has a red ewelamb at side. These were the result of an accidental breeding with a large mob of rams. I will DNA test the lambs and pass along the sire info it it’s identifiable, otherwise the lambs can be recorded as 50% and upgraded (I hope to know by late April, as the turnaround time for NSIP DNA is slow).
