Offered for sale as a purebred  Katahdin ram lamb $400

Fawn pinto ram. Sired by a framey, dark chocolate ram from Birch Cove Farm (David Coplen, Missouri). Dam traces to Thistle Grove Farm (Dr. John Bare, DVM, Iowa) and  a very distant Dorper cross done by Shirley Hasbrouck many years ago! Very balanced, but moderate EBVs across the board.

Fawn-reddish colored ram. We in the PNW have been lucky to borrow a ram from the USDA Research Station in Booneville, AR; Dr. Joan Burke is lending him to our region so that we can get better linkage to the “cluster” of flocks in the Midwest/South. He’s been on a tour through Idaho and Oregon, and made a stop here last winter to be used in my flock, and he’s headed East now. Take advantage of some great out-of-state genetics!

His dam is from Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, now retired) and she is a triplet queen! She is a smaller-framed ewe and you can see the less framey growth scores coming both from her and the sire. This ram is what we call a “maternal sire” who would be great for producing replacement ewes that have very high prolificacy and survival, and good milk. Growth can come with good feeding, but # lambs brought to market is our primary profitability lever. This ram is NSIP Stud Certified due to his high index and prolificacy scores.

Dark chocolate ram with a white krunet marking. Dam is a 2020 yearling out of a fast growth ewe line, and a Birch Cove ram that’s very tall and framey. Cute white ewelamb with one orange spot. She is petite in stature, but she is heavy and well muscled already! Her mother is older and can’t raise triplets anymore, so I’ve orphan-reared this girl. She is trained to the teat bucket and is completely self-sufficient. Dam is out of old-stock WA genetics (Bert Martineau, now retired plus On the Lamb Farm); and also traces back to a White Post Farm (East Coast, now retired) ram. Sire is a “loaner” ram from the USDA Research Station in Booneville, AR; and we are lucky to have him up in the PNW, sharing good NSIP genetics from the Midwest and South. He brings genetics from Lee Wright and Lynn Fahrmeier, as well as more Birch Cove. This girl has modest growth EBVs, but good on milk and stellar on prolificacy and survival.  Triplets are likely in her future, and she will raise a lot of lambs in her lifetime! I will likely keep 1-2 out of this set of triplet girls, so take advantage of this opportunity to get some of my “keeper” genetics!

Offered for sale as a pet Katahdin ewe $275

This is a pretty red ewe with white markings, white tail, and long hind socks.  She is fairly petite. Her dam is out of very old-stock PNW genetics, sire is from Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, in Iowa). This girl has had enough problems with losing full and pre-term fetuses and having weak newborns that I don’t think she should be bred again, I think her womb environment is compromised. Thus she is priced as a pet. Lambing record starting as a yearling: 2/2, 1/1, 1/0, 2/0, 2/1/ 3/1.
