Offered for sale as a register-able Katahdin ram lamb $450

Pretty red roan ram that’s fleshing out really nice.  Moderate growth and milk EBVs, but strong on prolificacy. Nice diverse pedigree with sire coming all the way from New York (Gibraltar Farm), tracking back to Roxanne Newton’s Hound River Farm in Georgia, and Lee Wright’s flock in Virginia, both of whom are so well known for their excellence in parasite resistance selection. Dam traces to Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri) and a USDA ram we got to borrow from the research station in Booneville, AR. You won’t get more out of state genetics than this!

EBVs from 2024 lamb crop WWT data. Photo taken July 2024. He will be weaned mid August and ready to go to a new home and start breeding this fall!

Offered for sale as a pet Katahdin ewe $375

Pretty white ewe. She’s had some prolapse issues in her yearling year, and tho often they don’t recur, sometimes they do and can be  hereditary, so I’m selling her as a commercial/ unregistered pet.  I’m breeding her this fall, price reflects being exposed. So new owner should be experienced with managing prolapse in case it recurs. After she lambs in 2025, she could

Pretty red buckskin ewe with a mottled white face. She has a good pedigree and EBVs, but wasn’t quite going to make the cut for me to keep her. Sadly she had a hard birth of twin lambs that I had to pull, and it was hard on her. She may breed fine in the future, but I always discount these and market them as pets in case the dystocia were to continue.

Photo taken April 2024. EBVs from 2024 lamb crop WWT data.  She is ready to go to a new home today.

Offered for sale as a registerable Katahdin yearling ewe $325

Framey ewe with brown splash markings. Strong on growth, milk and survival, but more modest on number of lambs born (tho her dam has had triplets twice).  Her pedigree is a diverse blend of Birch Cove (David Coplen, MO), some old stock from White Post Farm (now retired), and Aspen Mountain (Aileen Scott, MT). Her dam is still here at 11 years old and going strong, so there are some nice longevity genetics here. She is a bit shaggy this summer as a yearling. but has enough underlying hair coat that she will likely shed to a B or A coat by age two or three.

Offered for sale as a commercial Katahdin ewelamb $250

Cute chonky ewe, white with brown and black spots, born in January. She was the result of an accidental breeding last August, so I don’t know who her sire is. She’s had some familial prolapsing in her pedigree, enough that I think there is risk that it may repeat with her, so am selling her as a commercial/ pet. She can certainly be bred and will probably be a good dam, and prolapse is only lowly heritable, so it may never crop up for her. But if it does, then it would be recommended to send her and her daughters into the meat channel. Otherwise she could make a lovely pet and pasture ornament, or companion for horses. She could also be grown out as a slaughter animal, and depending on how fed, could be ready for butcher in October or so.

Offered for sale as a registerable Katahdin ewelamb $300

Classic frame chocolate ewe. She was the result of an accidental breeding last August, but I was able to confirm her sire via DNA.  Pedigree traces back to Birch Cove (David Coplen, MO) plus a little bit from Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired). Line bred on “Cheech” sire, who has some of the top EBVs in the country, with a lot of data in the system from five years of his progeny in the database.

EBVs from the 2024 lamb crop WWT data. Photo taken May 2024. She is weaned and ready to go to a new home today. Because she’s older and more substantial, she is much more likely to breed this fall than April born ewelambs.

Offered for sale as a registerable Katahdin ewelamb $300

Chunky chocolate ewe with a white star and some white spotting. She was the result of an accidental breeding last August but I was able to confirm her sire via DNA. 21053 is an awesome sire (the best out of the USDA sire we got to borrow from the Booneville, AR research station) and I haven’t gotten a chance to use him much yet, so she is a rare daughter out of him. Pedigree traces back to Birch Cove (David Coplen, MO) and also has some genetics from a breeder who bought from Karen Kenagy (KRK in OR).

EBVs from the 2024 lamb crop WWT data. Photo taken May 2024. She is weaned and ready to go to a new home today. Because she’s older and more substantial, she is much more likely to breed this fall than April born ewelambs.

Offered for sale as a recordable Katahdin ewelamb $275

Framey solid chocolate ewe. She was the result of an accidental breeding last August while I still had all the unweaned ram lambs with the dams. Her EBVs are pretty strong despite the hole in her pedigree, so her own performance, her dam’s EBVs and her DNA show she is a good ewe. Dam traces back to Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired) and a little bit from Aspen Mountain (Aileen Scott, MT).

Tall white ewe with some large Wiltshire Horn style big brown spots. She was the result of an accidental breeding last August while I still had all the unweaned ram lambs with the dams. Her DNA sample failed so I have re-submitted it and may know more about her in Aug, and that will likely also change her EBVs. Dam is out of a neat sire we got to borrow from the USDA Research Station in Booneville, AR; and she also traces back to Birth Cove (David Coplen, MO) and Thistle Grove Farm (David Bare, DVM, IA).

Chunky white ewe with black spotting. She was the result of an accidental breeding last August while I still had all the unweaned ram lambs with the dams. DNA testing was not able to deduce her sire, so she can be recorded as a 50%. Despite this blank spot in her pedigree, her EBVs are still very strong, based on her own growth,  her dam’s data and her DNA/genomics. Dam’s MWWT is 2.14 and my whole flock has a high average, so any ram who sired her would likely also pass on good milk genetics (scores are zeroed out for MWWT when there is not yet enough data). Dam traces back to  Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri) and the rest is local genetics.
