Offered for sale as a purebred  Katahdin ewelamb $275, exposed

Classic white ewelamb. Dam traces back to local genetics plus Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare DVM, Iowa) and Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired). We in the PNW have been lucky to borrow a ram from the USDA Research Station in Booneville, AR; Dr. Joan Burke is lending him to our region so that we can get better linkage to the “cluster” of flocks in the Midwest/South. He’s been on a tour through Idaho and Oregon, and made a stop here last winter to be used in my flock, and he’s headed East now. Take advantage of some great out-of-state genetics! The sire has very strong milk and survival, but his scores have dropped a bit on growth and survival. This girl’s dam is the opposite; so she’s very strong everywhere except NLB, where she’ll trend away from triplets and may sometimes single.

Photo from October 2021.   EBVs from 2021 EPWWT data and includes the new Genomics run calculations (though this ewe isn’t genotyped herself). NSIP is currently not reporting the USA HAIR index, until it can be updated with the new Genomics calculations.. This ewelamb  is register-able, weaned and ready to go to a new home today! She will be exposed to a ram starting 11/6/21.

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able  Katahdin ram lamb $375

Classic white ram lamb with some black spotting. Positive growth, and strong on prolificacy, survival and milk; this is a “maternal ram” built to produce replacement ewes. He is NSIP Maternal certified. He is on the small side due to being a triplet, but his scrotal circumference is pretty decent, indicating early maturity genes. So I think he’ll be able to service a small group of ewes just fine.

This ram’s sire is a very strong ram from David Coplen (Birch Cove Farm, Missouri). This sire has a Texel thee generations back. David’s crossing-in benefits us with heterosis and the double-muscling gene from Texels. The tradeoff is some setback in shedding, but this is easily recovered from in subsequent generations.  His sire is an upgrade, a B coat, but most of his offspring are good shedders; and this ram lamb can be fully registered.  His maternal line traces back to KRK genetics plus more Birch Cove.

Photo from September 2021. EBVs from 2021 lamb crop EPWWT data and includes the new Genomics run calculations (though this ram isn’t genotyped himself). NSIP is currently not reporting the USA HAIR index, until it can be updated with the new Genomics calculations.  This ram is weaned and ready to start breeding today.

Offered for sale as a purebred  Katahdin ram lamb $400, genotyped

Dilute chocolate ram. Sired by a framey, dark chocolate ram from Birch Cove Farm (David Coplen, Missouri). Dam traces to KRK genetics and Morgan Ensor’s stock. Balanced and moderate EBVs with good survival, this guy is teed-up to throw good replacement ewes as well as good butcher lambs.

Photo from September 2021.  EBVs from 2021 lamb crop EPWWT data and includes the new Genomics run calculations, and this ram is genotyped himself. NSIP is currently not reporting the USA HAIR index, until it can be updated with the new Genomics calculations. This ram is register-able, weaned and ready to start breeding today. Due to his late birth date, he should be limited to <=20 ewes.

Offered for sale as a purebred  Katahdin ram lamb $375

Classic white ram lamb with a very clean shedding hair coat as a lamb. Dam traces back to Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, now retired).  We in the PNW have been lucky to borrow a ram from the USDA Research Station in Booneville, AR; Dr. Joan Burke is lending him to our region so that we can get better linkage to the “cluster” of flocks in the Midwest/South. More of a “maternal ram”, he’ll give you good replacement ewe daughters while still producing good butcher lambs. He is NSIP Stud Certified.
