Offered for sale as a registered yearling ewe $450 with ewelamb at side
A classic white, feminine ewe. She has positive growth and milk metrics, and moderate prolificacy; so should be an easy-care ewe. Her pedigree brings in fresh blood from Iowa and Missouri, two grass-fed NSIP flocks that have brought me strong genetic improvement. She lambed freely on pasture and is being a great mother as a yearling. She has a chocolate ewelamb at side (not pictured), sired by KMC7018. Selling them as a pair for $450 if picked up before July 7th.
Photo taken May 2019. EBVs from 2019 lamb crop birth data. This ewe can go any time with her ewelamb at side; or solo after lamb is weaned in August.
Full disclosure: this ewe’s dam and grandam both had vaginal prolapse, which can be hereditary; and some people cull for it on first offense. In my own flock, I don’t consider it a “dealbreaker” unless it recurs, because it’s also often caused by environmental/ nutrition issues. Other ewes from these lines have not shown the problem. Since this ewe lambed normally as a yearling, I don’t feel she or her daughter are very likely to repeat this issue. But I do like to be transparent about potential defects, and I have discounted her from what I would charge if she did not have this question mark in her history.
