Offered for sale as a registered yearling ewe, bred $450
This is a big-bodied white ewe with more of the East-coast phenotype. Her EBVs are modest, but she will make a good mother and a good starter ewe for a beginner flock that doesn’t want anything too complicated.
This ewe has been exposed to a ram, due to lamb in April. Her lambs will be registerable. Keep in mind that mature ewes usually twin, so the floor of profit is $400 in butcher lambs, more if you sell some registered lambs or have triplets, so bred ewes have a great ROI. There are no guarantees on pregnancy status, since viability is mostly due to handling and feeding; but I rarely have one end up open. EBVs from this year’s PWWT lamb crop data. Photo taken early August.
