Offered for sale as a commercial ewe/pet $250
Smaller-framed, dappled chocolate ewe. She is a calm and loyal mama, but has a very weak milk supply. I’ve not observed mastitis in her, either she has had a low-grade case or is just generally a poor milker. She also doesn’t hold condition well during nursing, whereas some poor-milking ewes stay really fat because they’re not putting much energy into milk. She could be bred again and may do ok on a small farm in a high input system (alfalfa and grain feeding year-round), though be prepared to bottle supplement or orphan-rear her lambs. Otherwise, she will make a sweet and pretty pasture pet.
Photo taken May 2020. EBVs from 2020 lamb crop birth data. Her lambs have been mostly orphan-reared and are basically weaned, so she can go to a new home any time.
