KMC 23005

Offered for sale as a registered Katahdin  yearling ewe- $325

Tall red buckskin ewelamb. Strong on growth, survival and milk and moderate on prolificacy, for those who like to avoid triplets. Her pedigree is a blend of my own and local genetics, plus Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri) and Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired).

EBVs from the 2023 lamb crop EPWWT data. Photo taken August 2024.  Her lamb is weaned and she is ready to go to a new home today.

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ram lamb, $375

Nicely put together white ram with freckles and a large shoulder spot. He has moderate but consistent EBVs.  A mix of local, Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri) and Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired) genetics. This guy will make a very good, standard sire for both meat lambs and replacement daughters for a small flock that doesn’t need a higher powered NSIP ram.

Photo taken July 2023. EBVs from 2023 EPWWT data. Ram is NSIP Maternal Certified. He will be weaned mid-August and ready to start breeding right away!

KMC 23082

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ram lamb, $375

Big bodied white ram with some black face dots. Strong growth, survival and milk scores, but more modest on prolificacy for those who don’t love triplets.  A mix of local, Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM Iowa), and Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired) genetics. A note of caution: his birthweight score is quite high, which is a common artifact with high growth metric rams. If you are a hands-off lambing operation or you feed  your ewes really well during pregnancy, you may want to consider a ram with a lower BWT value. Note: this ram is horned, but I have him listed anyway, at a discount, because he has very strong EBVs and and make a great terminal sire. The horned/poll genes tend to only crop up in a small number of progeny, and if not preferred, those can go in the butcher channel.

Photo taken July 2023. EBVs from 2023 EPWWT data. Ram is NSIP Stud and Maternal Certified. He will be weaned mid-August and ready to start breeding right away!

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ram lamb, $500

Solid red ram. Really strong EBVs across the board.  A mix of local and Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri) genetics. Let this beefcake take your growth, prolificacy, survival and milk to the next level! Note that this ram is line-bred on the grandsire side. Also a note of caution: his birthweight score is quite high, which is a common artifact with high growth metric rams. If you are a hands-off lambing operation or you feed  your ewes really well during pregnancy, you may want to consider a ram with a lower BWT value.

KMC 22004

Offered for sale as a purebred register-able Katahdin yearling ewe, $375

Graceful ewe with subtle red roan coloration; a very slick shedder. She has really strong EBVs across the board and is right on my cut list for keeping, but her milk score is a little modest for me. Sire is out of Birch Cove Genetics (David Coplen, Missouri). Dam is my genetics tracing back to Misty River farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired) and Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, Iowa).

Photo taken May 2023.  EBVs from 2023 lamb crop WWT data run. This ewe is NSIP genotyped. She can go now with her white ram lamb for an extra fee, or in July by herself when he is weaned.

KMC 5013

Offered for sale as a registered Katahdin ewe (pet) $275

Flashy marked red pinto ewe. She has been a good mama, but is a “gummer” (she’s lost all her front teeth) so she can’t thrive on pasture alone anymore. She got very thin this winter and aborted twins early before I realized the reason. I have her in the barn and she’s fattened nicely on hay and grain; so she can do well in a pet home where she has access to feed year-round. She could probably even have more lambs just fine. Otherwise she’d make a sweet pasture ornament. Lambing record starting as a two year old: 2/2, 2/2, 1/1, 2/2, 2/2, 1/1, 2/0.

EBVs from the 2023 lamb crop WWT data. Photo taken May 2023. She is open and can go to a new home today.
