Offered for sale as a registered Katahdin ewe with ram lamb at side $625
Nice white ewe with a good hair coat. Balanced EBVs across the board, modest on prolificacy so she may have singles some of the time and will be less likely to triplet. Really strong maternal behavior. This year I had a larger than normal number of stillborns (I believe due to grass tetany) and hers was one of them. I easily grafted a triplet lamb onto her from another set. She took it so readily she almost didn’t need to be in a stanchion. Lambing record starting as a two-year-old: 2/2, 2/2, 2/2, 1/1
Her pedigree is a diverse set of out-of-town genes, tracing back to Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare DVM in Iowa), Misty Oaks Farm (Kathy Bielek in Ohio), White Post Farm (East Coast, now retired) and Aspen Mountain Farm (Aileen Scott Montana).
Photo taken May 2022. Sold with register-able white ram lamb at side through mid-August, at which time he will be weaned and they can be sold separately. The nice thing about this ram lamb is since he’s a graft, he’s only loosely related to her and can be bred back to her in the fall. See below for a photo of him, as well as a picture of what the pedigree of their lambs would look like, with linebreeding marked in peach. He’s got really nice EBVs.
