Offered for sale as a castrated wether Katahdin lamb/ pet $180

This is a very pretty red ram with long white socks and a big white blaze. He’s got a mild parrot mouth, which I only see rarely, but is not great for a breeder, because more extreme versions of this can render lambs that can’t graze well and thus don’t grow well. So I’m selling him as a pet and will wether him before he leaves. He was born 4/2/23. His dam was ill when she lambed and didn’t have a great milk supply, so I raised this guy half as an orphan on the teat bucket and half eventually grafted onto another ewe. He is eating creep/alfalfa well and can go to a new home any time; and should stay on creep through the end of July. Photo taken in May, he is already shedding his soft lamb coat (rubbed off from the creep gate!) so should be a very slick shedder/ AA coat. Price good through end of June and will rise as he gets bigger and I have more feed into him.

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ram lamb, $375

Blocky and long, white ram lamb. He’s got good growth and milk scores, but more mediocre on prolificacy and survival.  Pedigree has a lot of Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri) and my own flock genetics.

This guy had some trauma at birth and his older dam didn’t have great milk, so I had them in the barn together to help them both out. I recently weaned him and he’s looking great on creep feed and alfalfa, so can go to a new home at any time. He should stay on creep feed at least until July before being turned out on grass alone, to allow his rumen to fully develop. Photo taken May 2023. EBVs from WWT data.

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ram lamb, $400

Flashy dark chocolate ram with a clownface, four long white socks and white tail. He’s got good growth, survival and milk scores, more modest on prolificacy for those who like to steer clear of a lot of multi births in their replacement ewes. A mix of Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired) and my own flock genetics.

Photo taken August 2023. EBVs from 2023 EPWWT data. This ram is both NSIP Maternal and Stud Certified. He is weaned and ready to go to a new home and start breeding today!

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ram lamb, $450

Classic white ram. This is one of the higher indexing rams here this year, really nice EBVs across the board. A mix of local, Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), and a USDA ram from the Booneville facility that we got to borrow in 2021.

This guy’s dam died tragically from sepsis as a two year old, leaving 60 day old, very well-fed ram lambs behind. This guy is weaned and eating well on creep and alfalfa and can go to a new home today and breed late summer/early fall. He should stay on creep feed at least until July before being turned out on grass alone, to allow his rumen to fully develop. Photo taken May 2023. EBVs from WWT data.

Dark mahogany ram with broken blaze and white bib and body spots. He has solid growth EBVs, especially high on prolificacy  and milk.  A mix of local, Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM Iowa) and Misty Oaks Farm (Kathy Bielek, OH) genetics.

KMC 23108

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ram lamb, $450

Flashy red tick roan ram lamb. He has solid EBVs, especially high on prolificacy and lots of colors in this pedigree. A mix of local, Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM Iowa) and Misty Oaks Farm (Kathy Bielek, OH) genetics.

This due was born a quad, and I didn’t want the dam to try to raise them all, so this guy was the pick for orphan rearing. He’s been trained to the teat bucket from the start (not hand/bottle fed), so isn’t overly tame and at risk of becoming an obnoxious adult. He is ready to wean and go to a new home today, but should stay on creep feed at least until June before being turned out on grass alone, to allow his rumen to fully develop. Photo taken April 2023. KMC 23051

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ram lamb, $400

Unusual dilute/buckskin roan tick, panda faced ram lamb. He has modest and balanced EBVs across the board, is just a standard, middle-of-the-road guy, but I know someone is going to want these fancy colors. A mix of local and Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri) genetics.

I brought this one inside on a dark and stormy night because he kept getting separated from his dam in the big field, and I didn’t have time to mess with them. Meanwhile a ewe in the barn aborted twins, so I just grafted this one on to her. He does nurse off her and they are bonded. But she turned out not to have a great milk supply, so he’s mostly been eating creep feed at this point, and could be weaned and go to a new home at any time. He should stay on creep feed at least until June before being turned out on grass alone, to allow his rumen to fully develop. Photo taken April 2023. EBVs from BWT data.

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ewelamb, $300

Dark mahogany ewelamb with a white brockle face. Twin-born ewe, but was born on pasture in a really miserable thunderstorm and was weak at birth. I brought her in thinking I’d either retrieve her mother and sib or graft her onto another ewe; neither of which happened! So she is an orphan rear.

Photo taken April 2023. EBVs from BWT data. She is somewhat friendly and would become more so with handling. She is growing like gangbusters on the teat bucket and creep feed and will be weaned at the end of April. She can’t be weaned onto grass/ forage alone until she’s about four months old; so should continue to be offered high-protein creep through late June.

Offered for sale as a castrated wether Katahdin lamb/ pet $180

This funny little Quasimodo dude had a very troubled birth. I call him “Ed Grimley” (IYKYK!) He was one of a set of quads and was born really crooked! It took a week before he could even manage standing up in an laundry basket and another week before he could walk around somewhat competently. But he was a good eater from day one and has always had a cheerful demeanor, he has a very positive mindset! 😀 I worked with him a lot and braced his legs to help straighten them. He is mostly put-together now, but you can see he still has some leg bend, spinal curvature and a slight wry mouth. I don’t think this will cause him long-term trouble, but he really shouldn’t be bred, so I’ll castrate him before he leaves here. But he is just so flippin’ cute, he deserves a pet home!

He was born 3/6/23 and will need high protein creep feed through the end of June, then could wean onto grass.

KMC 23128

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ewelamb, $300

Blocky white ewelamb. Her dam is older and seemed to have an iffy milk supply, so I pulled this lamb to orphan-rear. Solid growth EBVs and really good maternal metrics. Diverse NSIP genetics from Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Misty Oaks (Kathy Bielek, OH),  Thistle Grove Farm (Dr. John Bare DVM, Iowa), KRK (Karen Kenagy, OR) and Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired). She is a big girl and a good eater. Solid white.

Photo taken April 2023. EBVs from BWT data. She is trained to the teat bucket and is eating creep feed well. I usually wean these around 8 weeks, so by mid May she can go off milk and just be creep-fed. She can’t be weaned onto grass/ forage alone until she’s about four months old; so should continue to be offered high-protein creep through mid July.
