Chocolate ewelamb with a white star. Positive growth, very strong milk and modest on prolificacy, she’ll likely steer away from triplets. Diverse pedigree blending local genetics with Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, retired), Aspen Mountain (Aileen Scott, Montana), and Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri).

Chocolate ewelamb with a white sock, tail tip and star. Positive growth, milk and very high survival; modest on NLB, so she’ll likely steer away from triplets. This will be a very predictable, productive ewe. She is in my top quartile for index due to her high NLW and good growth and milk scores. She has a lot of larger-frame ewes in her background and appears to be headed in that direction herself. Line bred on an Aspen Mountain (Aileen Scott, Montana) ewe and tracing back to White Post (East Coast, now retired), Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, retired) and some local stock in there too.

Beefy white ram with red spots. Slick-shedding hair coat. Good growth and milk, modest prolificacy, but really strong survival EBV. This will be a good maternal sire for those wanting replacement ewes that are less likely to triplet, while still offering solid growth genetics. Pedigree is a blend of my stock, Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, Iowa), Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired), Aspen Mountain (Aileen Scott, Montana). This ram’s dam is older and can’t raise triplets anymore, so I grafted him onto another ewe and he was raised as a single.

This ram will make a great terminal sire, or will produce replacement ewes that throw good-growing lambs and have great milk, but will likely steer clear of triplets most of the time. Pedigree is a good blend of Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired), and  KRK (Karen Kenagy, Oregon).

This ram will make a great terminal sire, or will produce replacement ewes that throw good-growing lambs and have amazing milk, but will likely steer clear of triplets most of the time. Pedigree is a good blend of Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired), and Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, Iowa). This ram has a small horn growing, so I have discounted him accordingly; but his growth and milk EBVs are too good to put him in the slaughter channel!

Offered for sale as a purebred record-able Katahdin ram $425

Well-put together red roan ram. Really nice EBVs across the board, good growth, very high prolificacy, survival and milk. This ram will produce both good replacement ewes and fast-growing butcher lambs. He has pretty and unusual markings: red hind socks, red spots, and a lot of red mottling throughout.

He is out of my newly-purchased white ram from Birch Cove Farm in Missouri (David Coplen); which is a grass-based, minimal input system with a long history of NSIP data. Note that ram has some Texel in his background, and is an 87.5% recorded ram. He has not shed adequately this year, so I will not be upgrading him (yet). Thus his lambs will also be record-able and eligible for upgrade upon hair coat inspection (which I can do) next summer. This lamb’s coat looks like it should have no problem fully shedding next year. For me, this ram’s productivity scores outweigh the shedding drawback in the pedigree, but I have discounted his lambs accordingly. On the maternal side, this lamb captures some really nice genetics from Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, Iowa) which is another grass-based flock that’s long been active in NSIP; and also Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired).
