White ewe, very classic Katahdin look; positive EBVs and an especially good survival score. Lower on NLB so isn’t as likely to have triplets. Pedigree has Aspen Mountain (Aileen Scott, Montana) ewe and Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, retired), plus Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, Iowa) and Birch Cove Farm (David Coplen, Missouri).

Offered for sale as a purebred record-able Katahdin ewelamb $325

Beautiful white ewe with a very nice, short hair coat.  Really strong EBVs across the board, this is one of the nicest ewes here. I’m keeping her sibling and don’t typically retain both in a set of twins, so here’s your opportunity to score a high-indexing ewe out of one of my new rams from Missouri. Note her sire has some Texel in his background, and is an 87.5% recorded ram. He has not shed adequately this year, so I will not be upgrading him (yet). Thus his lambs will also be record-able and eligible for upgrade upon hair coat inspection (which I can do) next summer. This lamb’s coat is likely an A coat, so she will have no problem shedding.  On the maternal side, this lamb captures some really nice genetics from Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, Iowa) which is another grass-based flock that’s long been active in NSIP. Her dam is one of my top-scoring ewes. This ewe meets the criteria for NSIP Maternal Certified.

Offered for sale as a purebred Katahdin ewelamb $300, exposed

Very pretty, classic white ewe. Good growth and milk scores, positive on survival and more modest on prolificacy, this girl probably won’t have a lot of triplets. Total Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri) breeding, that traces to some of the best NSIP lines in the nation; she is one of the few ewelambs I’m selling out of my two new rams from Missouri. I’m keeping her sibling and my policy is I normally don’t retain both twins, so this one is an opportunity to get a total out-of-state pedigree and some really good NSIP genetics.

Beautiful Hereford-red ewe, very well put together. Moderate frame size. Positive growth EBVs, lower on milk and prolificacy. She’ll likely steer clear of triplets most of the time. Pedigree is a blend of Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired) plus hardy, old-stock local genetics, including a ram out of the old Bert Martineau line, one of the original Washington State Katahdin commercial flocks. Breeding record starting as a two-year-old: 2/2, 2/2, 2/2, 2/2, 2/2.

Sire is from Thistle Grove Farm (John Bare, DVM, Iowa), which is a strong grass-based NSIP flock. Dam is out of local genetics, plus some Aspen Mountain Farm (Aileen Scott, Montana). Lambing record starting as a yearling: 1/1, 2/2, 2/1, 2/2.
