Offered for sale as a castrated wether Katahdin lamb/ pet $180

This funny little Quasimodo dude had a very troubled birth. I call him “Ed Grimley” (IYKYK!) He was one of a set of quads and was born really crooked! It took a week before he could even manage standing up in an laundry basket and another week before he could walk around somewhat competently. But he was a good eater from day one and has always had a cheerful demeanor, he has a very positive mindset! 😀 I worked with him a lot and braced his legs to help straighten them. He is mostly put-together now, but you can see he still has some leg bend, spinal curvature and a slight wry mouth. I don’t think this will cause him long-term trouble, but he really shouldn’t be bred, so I’ll castrate him before he leaves here. But he is just so flippin’ cute, he deserves a pet home!

He was born 3/6/23 and will need high protein creep feed through the end of June, then could wean onto grass.

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ewelamb, $300

Blocky white ewelamb. Her dam is older and seemed to have an iffy milk supply, so I pulled this lamb to orphan-rear. Solid growth EBVs and really good maternal metrics. Diverse NSIP genetics from Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Misty Oaks (Kathy Bielek, OH),  Thistle Grove Farm (Dr. John Bare DVM, Iowa), KRK (Karen Kenagy, OR) and Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired). She is a big girl and a good eater. Solid white.

Photo taken April 2023. EBVs from BWT data. She is trained to the teat bucket and is eating creep feed well. I usually wean these around 8 weeks, so by mid May she can go off milk and just be creep-fed. She can’t be weaned onto grass/ forage alone until she’s about four months old; so should continue to be offered high-protein creep through mid July.

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ewelamb, $300

This little busy bee is an orphan-rear triplet; her dam is older and can no longer feed triplets, so I pulled this one. She has really strong EBVs across the board, great maternal and growth genetics. Lots of out-of-state lines on this one, bringing in NSIP genetics from Birch Cove (David Coplen, Missouri), Lynn Farhmeier (Missouri) and Carl Ginapp’s flock (Iowa, now retired). She is a big girl and a good eater. Solid white.

Photo taken April 2023. EBVs from BWT data. She is trained to the teat bucket or will happily nurse off a bottle, and is eating creep feed well. She is somewhat friendly and would become more so with handling. I usually wean these around 8 weeks, so by late April she can go off milk and just be creep-fed. She can’t be weaned onto grass/ forage alone until she’s about four months old; so should continue to be offered high-protein creep through late June.

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ewelamb, $300

Feminine and well-built white ewelamb. Positive EBVs across the board, especially strong on milk. She also has pretty good parasite resistant scores, and their accuracy is higher because Caleb (sire producer) measures. Pedigree traces back to Birch Cove Farm (David Coplen, Missouri), and a USDA ram from the Booneville Research Station we were able to borrow in the PNW in 2019. This ewe is complete out-of-state genetics, so can bring some fresh blood to your flock.

Photo taken December 2022. EBVs from PWWT data.   This ewelamb is weaned and ready to go to a new home today. She is NSIP genotyped. She has been exposed to a ram since 9/20/22 and may be bred to lamb as a yearling. She already looks pretty round, so I suspect she is pregnant.

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin ewelamb, $300

Pretty brockle-faced ewelamb with black legs. Positive growth and prolificacy scores, and really strong on milk. Pedigree traces back to Birch Cove Farm (David Coplen, Missouri) and Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, now retired) genetics. Sire is from Birch Cove, he is one of the strongest EBV rams in the country right now, with strong, proven data behind him. We are lucky to have him here on the west coast and he’s going to be an influencer for some time to come.

Photo taken December 2022. EBVs from PWWT data. This ewelamb is weaned and ready to go to a new home today. She has been exposed to a ram since 9/20/22 and may be bred to lamb as a yearling. She has been NSIP genotyped and is NSIP Maternal Certified.

KMC 22100

Offered for sale as a purebred, register-able Katahdin yearling ewe, $325

Pretty white ewe with one very dark brown front leg and a lot of black spots. Modest on growth and lower on prolificacy, but incredible milk score (top 1%). She also has pretty good parasite resistant scores, and their accuracy is higher because Caleb measures. Pedigree traces back to Birch Cove Farm (David Coplen, Missouri), a USDA ram from the Booneville Research Station we were able to borrow in the PNW in 2019, and Good Shepherd Farm (Caleb Pirc, Idaho) plus a little from Misty River Farm (Mary Bakko, Moses Lake, now retired) and my own genetics. As you can see, she is an incomplete shedder as a yearling. I suspect in subsequent years, she will either shed adequately to be considered a B coat, she’s on the edge now, but still a C coat this year.

Photo taken August 2023. EBVs from 2023 lamb crop WWT data.  She is NSIP genotyped. This ewe did not lamb as a yearling and is ready to go to a new home today and breed this fall!

Buckskin ewe with a very nice AA hair coat. Very strong EBVs across the board, this is a good maternal ewe that has strong growth traits as well. PTK 21020

Offered for sale as a proven, purebred, registered Katahdin ram $450

I bought two rams from Caleb Pirc in 2021, and have since procured some new rams, so I’m letting one of them go! This is a long- and deep-bodied ram that holds condition well, and he is gentle and curious. His growth and prolificacy EBVs are modest, but where he really shines is his milk score and parasite resistance.  I don’t usually report FEC EBVs because I don’t do FECs on my own stock. But Caleb did, so this guy’s scores are more accurate. I used him for breeding in fall of 2021 and he is a proven sire and a good breeder, and threw some nice lambs.

Pedigree traces back to Birch Cove Farm (David Coplen, Missouri), Fahrmeier Katahdins (Missouri), KRK (Karen Kenagy, Oregon) and some other local genetics, plus a ram Caleb bought from me in 2018. He brings some nice out-of state genetics and diversity to the PNW. He has shed 90% since this photo was taken, just has a few bits left on his back and pants. I can send updated photos if desired.

Photo taken July 2023. EBVs reflect 2023 EPWWT data lamb crop data. He has been NSIP genotyped and he is NSIP Maternal Certified. He is ready to go to a new home and start breeding a big flock of ewes today.
